Naming Cabinet Room after former Chief Executive is ridiculous.

Willaston and Rope Ward UKIP Councillor Brian Silvester has criticised  the re-naming of the  Cabinet Room at Westfields in Sandbach as the Kim Ryley Room.

He said," Kim was only with us for a short time and to name a room after him is just a stunt that makes the Council look ridiculous. People have been contacting me to ask if it is a wind up or an early April Fools joke but sadly it is correct. (see info below sent to all Councillors today)

In any case decisions like this should be taken by all Councillors and should not be taken at the whim of the Leader of the Council. If the Council are to name rooms then the whole Council and the local community should be consulted. My preference would be to name them after some of those unsung heroes who have given their time voluntarily for many years to make Cheshire East a better place to live and not name them after officers who have been paid spectacularly well by the Council taxpayers for what they have done."

The Kim Ryley Room: The Leader of the Council, Michael Jones would like to share with you news that the Cabinet Room at Westfields has been renamed as the Kim Ryley Room.  This is in recognition of the great impact that Kim made to our organisation in the short time he was our Chief Executive. Cllr Jones is also keen to hear from staff who think other colleagues should be recognised in this way where they have made a significant impact to the Council and local community.  Please send your suggestions to the Leader via the Communications Team.
