POOLE ALCOCK CAMPAIGNS FOR ACTION AGAINST ASBESTOS

Leading Cheshire solicitors, Poole Alcock LLP, is again sponsoring Action Mesothelioma Day, a pioneering event to raise awareness of asbestos-related illnesses.

This year’s Action Mesothelioma Day will once again be hosted by Cheshire and Merseyside Asbestos Victims’ Support Groups, and as professional asbestos services solicitors, highly qualified legal experts from Poole Alcock will be lending their support by offering specialist advice on the day.

The event, which will take place at Liverpool Town Hall on 6 July, will see families and friends affected by asbestos-related diseases campaigning for change, and participating in a public act of remembrance by releasing doves to commemorate victims of Mesothelioma.

Malignant Mesothelioma is a tumour that can develop up to 60 years after exposure to asbestos, and with growing numbers of sufferers in the UK, Action Mesothelioma Day emphasises the need to prevent exposure to asbestos and ban its export to developing countries.

Poole Alcock LLP has successfully represented a large number of clients who have developed asbestos-related diseases, from railway workers and lorry drivers, to joiners and laggers. With over 120 years of experience, Poole Alcock has represented claimants locally and nationally, and the team will be available on Action Mesothelioma Day to provide free professional advice to sufferers and their families.

Throughout the day, medical experts will also be on hand to discuss the implications of exposure to asbestos. Dr Chris Warburton will speak on the health effects of Mesothelioma, and Nurse Bernice Sanders will talk on the role of respiratory nurses and the valuable services they can provide to patients and their families. Coordinator of the International Ban Asbestos Secretariat, Laurie Kazan-Allen, will also be discussing the need for an international ban on the use of asbestos, particularly in third world countries.

The Action Mesothelioma Day is open to the public, and will take place on Friday 6 July from 11:00am – 3:00pm at Liverpool Town Hall, High Street, Liverpool, L2 3SW.
