Flooding and the roads

 

Heavy rain overnight and this morning has led to large amounts of standing water and minor floods on the Borough’s roads – although all main roads remain open.

The following roads are currently closed, but the situation is changing rapidly:

  • Whitehaven Lane, Faddiley;
  • Maw Lane, Sydney;
  • Skellorn Green Lane, Adlington;
  • Street Lane, Adlington; and
  • Cawley Lane, Adlington

Highways officers from Cheshire East Council continue to work around the clock to clear the floods where possible. Sandbags are also available where necessary.

All motorists are advised to take extra care and drive in accordance with the conditions.

FLOOD WARNINGS:

Flood Warnings for Poynton Brook and the River Bollin have been issued by the Environment Agency.
