Blue Bell Crewe hosted an exclusive Olympic celebration evening to commemorate the very best in local sporting talent, at De Vere Wychwood Park on Saturday 23 June.
The celebratory evening not only gave members of the public the chance to meet and greet Olympic qualifier, Fran Halsall, but also saw local swimming sensation Charlotte Bradbury crowned as Blue Bell Crewe Young Sports Personality of the Year.
As part of Blue Bell Crewe’s commitment to supporting local sporting talent, Fran assisted the team in judging the dealership’s prestigious Young Sports Personality of the Year Award. Blue Bell Crewe launched the award to recognise the area’s most promising sporting talent while Olympic-fever is gripping the nation, and on Saturday 16 year-old Charlotte Bradbury was crowned as the winner.
Charlotte, who lives in Willaston, Nantwich, is a talented swimmer and was presented with the coveted title and a state of the art BMW mountain bike worth £800. Charlotte travels over 900 miles per week to train with the City of Liverpool Swimming Club, and has already competed in the Youth Olympics in Finland in 2009, was the 2010 British age group record holder in the 200m breaststroke, and has been the National Youth Champion in the same event for four consecutive years. At only 16 years-old, Charlotte is looking forward to a promising future and hopes to be competing at the next Olympic Games in 2016.
The final of the Blue Bell Crewe Young Sports Personality of the Year Award also saw Lucy Burgess, 18, from Calvely, receive a cheque for £75, and Felicity Martin, 16, from Wistaston, win a cheque for £50, after being awarded second and third place respectively.
Lucy is a talented member of Northwich Rowing Club, who currently holds the title of the fastest young female rower in Great Britain and recently won a gold and silver medal at the prestigious Munich Regatta. Felicity is a keen gymnast and trains with the Cheshire Academy, having twice represented Great Britain as an ambassador in the Special Olympic Summer Games in Uzbekistan, and as part of Team GB in the prestigious World Games.
The BMW Group is actively supporting British athletes throughout the country after being named the official automotive sponsor of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with Blue Bell Crewe honouring its ongoing sponsorship of Fran Halsall at Saturday’s event.
Guests enjoyed hearing about the London 2012 gold medal hopeful’s preparations and expectations for the upcoming games, and joined the dealership in wishing her the best of luck in her individual and team events. This summer, Fran will compete in the 50m and 100m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly events at the London 2012 Olympic Games, as well as being a part of the freestyle and medley relay teams.
Blue Bell Crewe’s sponsorship of Fran assists in meeting her transportation needs for training, competitions and events, and she has recently taken delivery of a cutting edge BMW Z4 from the dealership.
Barry Holt, Dealer Principal at Blue Bell Crewe, comments: “We were delighted to be able to invite Blue Bell customers to join with us in congratulating local sporting talent on their success at this unique event. The local area is brimming with excellent sports clubs and plenty of talent, so it was a fantastic opportunity to give the young sports stars of the region the recognition they deserve. Blue Bell is proud to support local grass-roots sports stars, and it was great to be able to work with Fran on this exciting initiative.
“It was also fantastic to welcome visitors to our exclusive evening to join in our celebrations, and to help us wish Fran the best of luck in her quest for gold this summer.
