Experience Christmas

Reporter Jonathan White

Parishioners and visitors were treated to a free family fun ‘Experience Christmas’ event on Saturday 29th December 2018 at St Andrew's Church on Bedford Street in Crewe. In the morning there was a live telling of the Christmas Story with the audience guided around the church. In the afternoon there was also storytelling, pass the parcel, create a Christmas Nativity story bag and a buffet tea.

Ruth Gray, Children's Ministry Team Leader and Reader-in-training, said, “'It has been a busy year at St Andrew's with an array of services, events and activities for all ages. The recent Experience Christmas events were an opportunity for us as a church to share the meaning of Christmas in a contemporary way, with the families in our community. It was wonderful to see both the children and adults enjoying the activities on offer. In my role as leader of our children’s work I’ll be meeting with our children’s ministry team over the coming weeks to create a programme of children’s services, events and activities for 2019. Information on these and all up and coming events will be posted on our Parish Facebook page and website.”

Other Christmas events at St Andrew's Church commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ included an Advent Service, Community Carols in Church Garden, Christingle and Crib Services, and a Midnight Mass. On Christmas Day there was a family Communion Service, with an interactive approach to the story of the nativity, led by Revd Catherine Cleghorn.

Weekly services at St Andrew's Church are: Sundays (Said Communion, 8am; Worship and Communion - coffee is served after this service - 9:30am; Evensong or Sung Eucharist, 4pm), Tuesdays (Open informal worship with coffee and cakes, 6:30pm), and Thursdays (Said Communion - coffee and cakes afterwards, 10am).

Saturday Café takes place every week 12 noon to 1:30pm with soup, sandwiches & cakes in a relaxed atmosphere.
