Willaston Pre-School Group Need a new Chairperson

Willaston and Rope Ward UKIP Councillor Brian Silvester has been approached to try and help the Willaston Pre School group to find a new Chairperson.

He said," The Willaston Pre School group are very successful, thriving and well regarded. They provide an excellent facility for parents and their children from Willaston and the surrounding villages. I have asked Cheshire East Council to help and Dawn Clark, Local Area Partnership Manager for Crewe, has placed an advert on  the Council's centranet site message board, sent out the advert to the network, requested it to be placed on Community portal, placed it on the South Cheshire Chamber Portal and asked for it to go on the Council's team talk.

I was able to help to find the current Chairwoman some years ago, who is sadly now leaving the area, and I hope this appeal will be just as successful. If anyone would like to know more, they should  phone Toni Brookshaw on 01270 483426, who would be delighted to have a chat.

Cheshire Pride Awards.

Willaston were successful again in the recent Cheshire Pride Awards. The village won a Little Gem award for the Village Green and Floral Display and were joint runners up in the Community Website category.Willaston Rose Queen, Amy Smallman, received a Highly Commended in the Working with Young People category.

I am really impressed with the continuing success of Willaston in winning awards like this. For a small village it does really well and punches well above its weight. The achievement of these awards is all down to the hard work of a small bunch of dedicated people, the Parish Council and the support of residents in general. Well done to all concerned. Keep up the good work.

Inconsiderate parking leads to diversion of bus route

Willaston and Rope Ward UKIP Councillor Brian Silvester is calling for urgent action because, at peak times, buses are by-passing the centre of Willaston because of the congestion caused by inconsiderate parking. (See e-mails below)

He said," Parking is a chronic problem in the centre of Willaston because there are many terraced houses with no off street parking. I have been calling on Cheshire East Council (CEC) for some time to  review the existing parking restrictions in Willaston in order to provide additional on street parking for residents. Also at my insistence CEC have requested the Police  and PCSOs to patrol the area at the times when the parking problems occur so that action can be taken against inconsiderate parkers. It is because of these inconsiderate parkers that buses cannot use Wistaston Road and have to use  Crewe Road instead. There are many  elderly residents in the village and they are not able to walk long distances and this diversion of the bus service is causing them considerable problems. In some cases it could result in some residents not being able to use the bus at all. The answer is to  solve the congestion not divert the buses."

Best wishes,

Brian Silvester
